It is a common metabolic disease due to either insufficient insulin produced by pancreas or a body does not react properly to the insulin produced; in result of high blood sugar levels over a long period of time. Complications can be diabetic ketoacidosis, nonketotic hyperosmolar coma, or sometimes even death. Serious long-term complications such as heart disease, stroke, and chronic kidney failure can also occur.

There are three types of Diabetes Mellitus:

● Type 1 Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM)
● Type 2 Non Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM)
● Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
